š Cardano Newsletter Special Edition: ID Latam Forum
ID Digital Forum will be the first international event fully dedicated to digital identity, interoperability, and data sovereignty.
Hey innovators! Get ready for alpha! š
Organized by Fundación Diplomacia Ciudadana, together with leading partners from the public and private sectors, this initiative marks a historic step for Latin America in the global dialogue on digital identity.
Weāre thrilled to have you on this journey to understand how digital identity is shaping the future of access, inclusion, and innovation across the world and Latin America.
š The Global Context: Identity in a New Geopolitical Era
The discussion around digital identity has moved from the tech world into the global geopolitical agenda. Today, major economic powers, from the European Union to China and the United States, are shaping how identity systems will define access, security, and participation in the digital economy.
In Europe, the eIDAS 2.0 framework aims to create a single interoperable identity for all EU citizens, enabling cross-border authentication and trust services. Meanwhile, initiatives in Asia and North America are advancing, each with different governance models, some led by governments, others by private corporations.
Digital identity is no longer just about convenience. It is becoming a critical public infrastructure, comparable to energy grids or telecommunications networks, one that determines who can access healthcare, education, finance, or mobility in the digital age.
For Latin America, understanding these global frameworks is essential. Itās about ensuring that local systems remain open, inclusive, and interoperable, built around peopleās rights, not around control.
š§ Your Voice Matters: Why You Should Join the Debate
Digital identity is not just a technological issue, itās a civic one. It challenges us to rethink how we build trust, protect privacy, and define participation in the digital world. Every citizen has a role to play in shaping this transformation.
Thatās where Citizen Diplomacy comes in: a bridge that connects local voices with global decisions. Through it, people contribute their ideas, experiences, and values to build identity systems that reflect human rights and shared responsibility.
Thatās why citizen participation is essential. Decisions about how our data is collected, shared, and stored should not happen behind closed doors. Building digital identity must be a collaborative process, where citizens, developers, governments, and civil society define together the principles of trust, openness, and self-sovereignty.
The goal is simple yet powerful: to ensure that technology serves people, not the other way around.
š£ļø Your opinion counts. The question isnāt whether digital identity will exist, but who will control it and how weāll keep peopleās data safe and private.
