Cardano Gears Up for Chang Hard Fork: Node v9.0 and Decentralized Governance
The Cardano blockchain is undergoing a significant transformation with the upcoming Chang hard fork, scheduled for the end of July 2024. This critical upgrade, facilitated by the recent release of Cardano node v9.0, lays the groundwork for the implementation of a decentralized governance system, a central objective envisioned during Cardano's Voltaire era.
Cardano node v9.0 represents the final development step needed for the Chang hard fork to occur. This new node version equips validators with the necessary tools to seamlessly transition the network to the Chang era. The hard fork itself will be executed in a phased approach. The technical specifications for this system are outlined in Cardano Improvement Proposal (CIP) 1694.
Chang #1 will mark the initial stage, introducing foundational governance features. This paves the way for the Cardano community to actively participate in the decision-making process through voting mechanisms. The second stage, Chang #2, builds upon this foundation by unlocking the full potential of CIP-1694's on-chain governance capabilities.
Through these stages, the Cardano community will progressively gain greater influence over the protocol's evolution, including the ability to vote on proposals and shape the future direction of the Cardano ecosystem. READ MORE
The Cardano Stablecoin $USDA Continues Launch Under New Ownership
The Cardano stablecoin, initially developed by Anzens, is getting a fresh launch under the leadership of Encryptus, a seasoned crypto trading desk. EMURGO, who provided technological support to Anzens, will continue this role for the relaunch. This news follows challenges Anzens faced in bringing USDA to market last year.
Encryptus brings a strong track record in secure and efficient crypto transactions, catering to high-volume users. Their focus on compliance, with licenses and a large payout network, positions them well for managing a stablecoin. They already collaborate with EMURGO on solutions for the Yoroi Wallet.
Among the new features are: global access through worldwide off-ramps, fostering participation in emerging markets with affordable liquidity, and simplifying Web3 entry for businesses and individuals.
Cardano users can expect Encryptus to ensure the smooth operation of USDA, a native Cardano stablecoin offering user autonomy and low-cost transactions. Encryptus' experience and compliance-centric approach aim to empower businesses and emerging markets with a reliable stablecoin solution. READ MORE
Cardano-Powered Sci-Fi Shooter Chronoshot Debuts on Epic Games Store
Chronoshot, a free-to-play sci-fi shooter game built on the Cardano blockchain, is now available for wishlisting on the Epic Games Store. This marks a significant development for blockchain integration within established gaming platforms.
Developed by RFLXT, Chronoshot is currently in its early access phase. This initial release offers players two single-player modes with leaderboards to test characters and provide feedback for ongoing development. The highly anticipated multiplayer mode is slated for a later launch in 2024.
One unique feature of Chronoshot is its connection to the Cardano blockchain. Players utilize RFLXT accounts, which integrate Cardano-based NFTs for character upgrades and potential competitive advantages. This approach aims to cater to both blockchain enthusiasts and traditional gamers who may be new to crypto wallets. Regardless of their familiarity with blockchain technology, all players can access these NFTs. This ensures everyone can enjoy the core gameplay without needing a crypto wallet and its integration showcases the potential of blockchain technology in the future of gaming. READ MORE
